A Delicate Balance's Plea for Help
It has been four years since I first set out on my mission. A passion for change engulfed me and I was overwhelmed by a desire to share with the world what I had learnt: mainstream society is functioning under a misguided truth. We have been taught one way for generations and I wanted to reveal to the world that we have a choice. We have been harming animals, our bodies and our environment unnecessarily. We do not need to kill animals for food to live healthily or to help maintain the land; in fact, we are doing the complete opposite. We are hurting animals and, in the process, are hurting ourselves and our future. The most positive aspect of this situation is that there is a choice and a solution.
I soon found that there were many other people around the world who had learnt what I had, or were in the process of this. In my research, I found many experts, professors, researchers and doctors who have been conducting studies and writing books about their findings: their experiences with patients are also inspiring. These findings needed to be brought together and revealed to a greater amount of people. Fortunately, I had another passion and an important tool at my disposal: I would use the medium of film to show the world.
I made A Delicate Balance -The Truth with the financial generosity of family and friends, and also with lines of credit that have left me very well known with a number of major banks. On completion, I continued to borrow money to have screenings around Australia. Those who did see the film during its limited run made changes to their food lifestyle: some vegetarians went vegan; some eliminated dairy from their diet; others eliminated red meat. It opened the eyes of all the people who did attend; even if they didn't change their diet immediately, they gained insight and were resourced with the information; the seeds were planted. However, the number of people who were at these screenings was very limited. I would really like to share this film with as many people as it is possible
I made the decision to release the film online and on DVD. I had received a lot of interest in when the film would be available on DVD, so I thought that surely a DVD release would be embraced. Unfortunately, this has not really been the case. To make things worse, I have been devastated to discover that illegal copies have been made; I can not begin to express the discouragement that this has caused.
I have lived by the attitude and motto of "fake it till you make it": in order to keep positive about the potential prospects of the future, I kept an opportunistic attitude. At the surface, it seems that I am doing quite well with the release of the film and the DVD. The Website looks professional but this has incurred an, as yet, unpayable cost. The truth is that making A Delicate Balance-The Truth has left me in severe debt. I owe more money than I want to admit. While this is not anyone else's problem but my own, I ask for support in anyway that anyone has the means.
The biggest potential the film has is on a University tour (both in Australia and the United States). We have screenings booked around almost half of the United States. The potential here lies in discussion sessions, question and answer meetings, and seminars with leading researchers, such Professor T. Colin Campbell, Caldwell B Esselstyn Jr. MD, and Michael Greger M.D.
The possibilities with this endeavour are very exciting. A large number of people will have the opportunity of seeing the film on this tour; these include: students, social groups, animal rights groups, food awareness groups and Churches. Hopefully, they will have similar responses to those that attended the screenings last year. The possibilities for our shared cause are overwhelming. However, we need help. Sponsorship will be very helpful. As this is an event, there can be advertising and promotional benefits for any organisation who can help. Please contact me if you are interested in a venture of this nature or know a group who might be.
Whilst educating and spreading the greater message of A Delicate Balance is most important, finance plays a bigger role than anyone passionate about this cause would care to admit: I cannot continue to ignore this issue. Each and every Pay-per-view (PPV), DVD, Book, e-book, and T-shirt sale makes every difference to making this tour a reality. Whether our cause and mission is related to animal welfare and exploitation, human health or environmental health, spreading the message of hope and truth about our choices in life is our common mission. I sincerely value any support.
I have been touched by the support that I have already received, particularly the encouraging words from around the globe. I have received a small amount of DVD orders from groups, but have been mostly touched by an order from Edger's Mission, a non-for profit farm sanctuary who I aspire to be able to donate to myself. I am sincerely grateful for all help received.
In hope and gratitude,
Aaron Scheibner
